Pick Your New NBC Fave: J.J. Abrams vs. The "New Lost" - E! OnlineThanks,
Newsflash to all you fans still mourning Lost: There is a possible replacement on the horizon. One that is looking pretty dang awwwwwesome.I just saw one of NBC's upcoming series at a supersecret screening (shhh!) and it's the best thing I've seen so far for fall. So as our Buzz-O-Meter continues and we ask you to pick the one new NBC series you are most excited about, see if you can figure out which series I'm already starting a fanclub for...
The Event: What is the event? Tough to say, seeing as even the President of the United States is out of the loop and even after seeing the pilot I can tell you this: It's indescribable. In a good way. This cover-up conspiracy show from Steve Stark (Medium), Evan Katz (24), Nick Wauters (The 4400, Eureka) and Jeffrey Reiner (Friday Night Lights) puts Jason Ritter right in the middle of the mystery as an ordinary man trying to investigate the disappearance of someone he loves. Blair Underwood, Sarah Roemer, Laura Innes and Scott Patterson also star.

Digital gets high priority at NBC - Variety
Digital gets high priority - Entertainment News, TV News, Media - Variety
While NBC continues its battle for viewers, the net is making a heavy online push as well. The Peacock's digital division, under topper Vivi Zigler, has assigned writers to pen web-only episodes to complement existing shows that are intended to help build buzz for comedies "Community," "Parks and Recreation" and "The Office," as well as other skeins.
Scribes aren't part of the show's staff but rather are members of the net's online team and are embedded in the writers' room.
"We start early," says Zigler, whose team is already prepping the digital accompaniments to a handful of upcoming fall skeins, such as serial drama "The Event" and sitcom "Outsourced." "We want to develop an online experience that's organic to the show."

In the third episode of What Is The Event Podcast, we discuss the latest videos released by NBC and some of the questions they raise, and we focus in on Nick Wauters and his career before The Event. Next week, we'll take a deeper look into the career of Steve Stark. His name always makes me think of Tony Stark and Iron Man.thanks,

The Disappearance is Not The Event Trailer
There's a brief image of a young girl with someone putting a hand over her mouth like she's about to be kidnapped? If this the first time this has happened to Sean Walker's girlfriend? How big is the conspiracy? What cruise line were they using, don't go on cruises with them. =)

The CIA Cover-Up Is Not The Event Trailer
A very interesting statement is made in this preview, "We Don't Feel Safe Enough to Let Them out!" Who are these 97 prisoners? What is going on in this prison? Where are they from? Why are they dangerous? How long have they been held captive? When will they escape or be freed?
Thanks,
Jimmy in GA
The Assassination Plot is Not the Event Trailer
We get a few new glimpses in this preview for The Event coming Fall 2010 to NBC. What is The Event?

Nick Wauters' The Event Coming Fall 2010
Let's take a look back at what he's worked on before. He wrote Phased and Confused (2008) on the SyFy show "Eureka". The plot summary from IMDB states that, "While Jack keeps having to rescue Lexi from a bumbling superhero, Zoe gets trapped while exploring an abandoned facility under the high school with her friends."
He also wrote Audrey Parker's Come and Gone (2007) of "The 4400" from USA. The plot summary from IMDB states that, "After taking promicin, an old lady named Audrey Parker develops the ability to astral project from her body. When she's murdered, her spirit tries to reach Tom and Diana to help them find her killer. Shawn decides to re-open the 4400 center and start healing again despite the government's warnings. Ben and Maia come to Seattle to visit Diana. Cassie leads Kyle to some interesting information."
Back in 2006, he wrote an episode for "Medium" The Darkness Is Light Enough. The plot summary from IMDB states that, "Allison has visions of a faceless man breaking into the home of a woman. Joe feels pressure at work."
How Sci-Fi will The Event go? What Is The Event? I think most people are assuming aliens are involved in this show at this point, but we shall see soon.

NBC's The Event: Black Presidents & National Disasters
This is an intersting blog post over at The Wall Street Jounrnal from a few weeks ago about Hollywood's portrayal of Black Presidents during times of disaster. I've included an excerpt, but click on the link above for the full story.
Hollywood seems to be going through a boomlet in recent years of presidents of color facing End of Days type situations. Here are just a few: Danny Glover in “2012,” Morgan Freeman in “Deep Impact,” Terry Crews in “Idiocracy,” Dennis Haysbert in “24.” There’s been lots of buzz around the web about this seeming trend–does Tinseltown just like hitting Black Presidents with meteors or something? Of course, maybe confronting crisis is just what presidents do–President Obama has had to deal with a near-meltdown in the financial markets, a terrorist attack in Times Square, and a volcano in Iceland–and that’s just this year. Thanks,
