NBC's The Event: Black Presidents & National Disasters

NBC's 'The Event': Black Presidents and National Disasters - Speakeasy - WSJ

This is an intersting blog post over at The Wall Street Jounrnal from a few weeks ago about Hollywood's portrayal of Black Presidents during times of disaster. I've included an excerpt, but click on the link above for the full story.
Hollywood seems to be going through a boomlet in recent years of presidents of color facing End of Days type situations. Here are just a few: Danny Glover in “2012,” Morgan Freeman in “Deep Impact,” Terry Crews in “Idiocracy,” Dennis Haysbert in “24.” There’s been lots of buzz around the web about this seeming trend–does Tinseltown just like hitting Black Presidents with meteors or something? Of course, maybe confronting crisis is just what presidents do–President Obama has had to deal with a near-meltdown in the financial markets, a terrorist attack in Times Square, and a volcano in Iceland–and that’s just this year.
Thanks,
